Join us in Bermuda 2009Sandra (Irvine) Pearson and Joni (Page) Pypka are organizing an Alma Alumnae week-long trip to the beautiful island of Bermuda slated for late April 2009 to visit the contingent of alumnae who live there. A travel agent will be present at our June reunion to discuss details. Bermuda in the spring promises to be a great getaway. News from AlumnaeWe've added a new area to share news from alumnae around the world. Learn about the mini reunion for Alumnae who attended Alma between 1958-1963 which was organized by Linda (McClatchie) Walsh. Linda, Hostess Extraordinaire, worked for over a year on this effort and wants to thank all who helped to discover the whereabouts of so many girls. See the full story and others on the Alumnae News page.
Alma Gone in a Blaze of GloryAfter years of efforts to save the building, and numerous city council appearances, the alumnae were saddened when the buildings were destroyed by fire. The Press Clippings page has some articles from local newspapers. For more articles, see the St. Thomas Times Journal archives. Alma Alumnae Recipe BookDuring the year 1983-84, the Prefect Society at Alma College produced a recipe book of favourite international recipes. Many of the contributions came from staff and students. Like many recipe books, sections were salads, main dishes and desserts. In the appetizer section, Fornita Man from Hong Kong submitted "Spring Rolls", Christine Folberth of Germany contributed "Beef Tartar" to main dishes and Susannah Daugharty of London, Ontario gave us "Butter Tarts" for dessert. Do you have a favorite recipe or 2 or 3? Send them to Donna in MS Word, a text file or just type them into an email message. Include your maiden name and years attended. If we get a good response we may have a recipe book for you in 2010!! Send electronic materials to: donnaro@rogers.com.
You can view many reunion
photos and post your own photos to a new Yahoo
group set up by Lara (Masur) Leitch. She has also set up a discussion
group. All alumnae are welcome to participate. Note that you have to sign
in as a Yahoo member, but it's free. Photos and Message Board |
