Welcome to
Alma College International Alumnae Association

Alma College

Alma College in St.Thomas, Canada was a private boarding school for girls, founded in 1877. The school ceased operations in 1988 and formally closed in 1994. Sadly, on May 28, 2008, the main building was destroyed by fire, yet its spirit lives on in its many alumnae and their accomplishments.

The Alma College International Alumnae Association promotes continued fellowship among its members. It cultivates close ties between past students, teachers and staff of Alma College through communication, reunions and networking.

Reunion May 2011

Alma Alumnae Scholarship Recepient of 2011

In October 2011, Pat Elliott Ruhl and Sandi McCaig Miles had the pleasure of presenting this year's winner of the 2nd Alma College Alumnae Scholarship to Taylor Anderson at Arthur Voaden Secondary School (AVSS) in St. Thomas during their Commencement ceremonies.

Taylor was thrilled to receive the $500 to help her advance in her studies.Taylor's thank you card stated: "I would like to start off by saying thanks. I am very honoured to receive such an award; as well, to be the first recipient (at AVSS) to receive the Alma College Alumni Scholarship."

Alma Alumnae Scholarship 2012

Central Elgin Collegiate Institute will be the next school to receive the Alma College Alumnae Scholarship. In October their Guidance Department was given a copy of the criteria used in choosing a student. They are looking forward to selecting a young woman who best matches our criteria. Their Commencement ceremony is in October 2012.

Elections 2012

This is an election year to select a new executive. There are some alumnae who have agreed to let their names stand and will be more than pleased if further nominations come forward! These alumnae have served on the Executive on more than one occasion over the past few years and would like to step back. All positions are open and we welcome all nominations.

In an effort to make it easier for anyone to participate in the election process if you are unable to attend the June reunion a proxy form is available for you to complete and mail in with your dues. It is on the second page of the Registration form. This is your Alumnae Association -- its future survival depends on you and your participation and willingness to be involved! We hope you can attend.

Association Executive 2010-2012
